One Vocaloid song that I've always liked is "The Happy Prince" by Natarie in the Dream, and this is only one of several drawings I've tried to do inspired by that song. The original version is a duet between Rin and Len, but there's also a Gakupo version with Luka as the harmony. I listen to the latter more frequently, though.

This drawing is a mix between the two: it plays off the idea that Gakupo and Luka are singing the song, but the actual drawing is inspired by the short story off which the song is based. For this one, I used what was for me the most riveting part of the story:

However, the song by Natarie puts the story in a more cheerful light, so I'm working on a drawing for that as well.

I was originally going to include wings and more sunlight in this drawing, but after some thought about the mood and how laying on a pair of wings would be physically unlikely, I changed those ideas.

To anyone who wants to comment or critique: I was going for a mostly cold atmosphere in this drawing, since the story mostly takes place in winter. I didn't make it to be entirely blue, since I still wanted some warmth left, but hints on how to tie the drawing together color-wise or shading-wise would be nice, too. Also, I'm not very experienced with rock texture, so if there's some way I can improve that, I would like to hear about that as well.
