This is what I worked on (and pretty much all that I saved) in the two weeks that I was gone. :3 It's MUCH bigger than I'm used to working with. I had to ship it back to myself since I traveled by plane - it smudged a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought it would.
A couple of years ago, over the summer, I drove to Yellowstone and passed through a couple of ghost towns - Virginia City and Nevada City, if I remember correctly. There aren't any magpies where I live, and the memory that stands out most to me (other than their boldness) is the sounds they make - to me, it sounds a lot like laughing. I tried to embody that here in a fantasy painting of a magpie as a comedian - it would certainly cheer me up to hear those magpies again!
I'm going to try to sell this at Rainfurrest this year :3
I most likely won't be doing any more oil painting in the near future, but I'll certainly be playing with acrylics more now that I remember how much fun painting is.
30 inches by 40 inches, oil on canvas

The magpie's wings are excellent! His stance is perfect for a comedian mid-performance. I love that you've included a couple of audience members, too. I just wish there were more of them! The stage is beautifully done, as well. Great work!
